From the Foreword:'John Anderson's book represents a milestone in aviation literature. For the first time aviation enthusiasts - both specialists and popular readers alike - possess an authoritative history of aerodynamic theory. Additional Physical Format: Online version: Durand, William Frederick, Aerodynamic theory. Gloucester, Mass.: P. Smith, (OCoLC)

The book covers the full spectrum of information needed for an individual to select, operate, test and maintain axial or centrifugal compressors. It includes basic aerodynamic theory to provide the user with the "how's" and "why's" of compressor design. Maintenance engineers will especially appreciate the troubleshooting guidelines offered.   Introduction to Airfoil Aerodynamics This is part 5 in a series of fundamental aircraft design articles that aims to give you an introduction to aircraft design principles. In a previous post we looked at the importance of the shape and plan-form of the wing, and how this has a great impact on the flying characteristics of the aircraft.

Aerodynamics Books. Using aerodynamics to improve the acceleration, efficiency and cornering speed of your race car can mean the difference between winning and losing. While the internet does provide some insights, the best and most complete information is available in a number of excellent books on aerodynamic theory and design.

Features detailed summaries of design options detailing the pros and cons of each aerodynamic solution; Includes three case studies showing applications to business jets, general aviation aircraft, and UAVs; Numerous high-quality graphics clearly illustrate the book's concepts (note: images are full-color in eBook only).

If you want a sound knowledge of the concepts involved, I would read Anderson's "Intro to Aerodynamics" book. Anderson has a very deep knowledge and insight into the physics of aerodynamics that you won't find in many other books.

Too many "fluid dynamics" books get bogged down in endless mathematical gobbledygook.
